4 Life Lessons I have recently learned

It pays to take care of your mind, body and soul

Six months ago I went vegan aside from the agricultural, environmental benefits the health benefits have been mind-blowing. I have realised how beneficial it is to really look after my body, of course, I am no saint and not 100% healthy but I am getting there. I’m currently attempting 100 days caffeine free as coffee really does nothing to help with my anxiety. Alongside improving my diet, I have been improving my lifestyle and practising yoga and meditating daily. I’m going to delve into this more but for now, I’m loving yoga as it is a great form of exercise but also for somebody who suffers from mental health issues yoga is a total mind-body-soul workout. Strengthening and stretching poses with deep breathing, incorporating meditation has been really beneficial.

It’s ok to start over

Something I learned recently, You can be multi-passionate. It’s ok to have multiple passions and no it does not mean you are indecisive. It does mean you need to learn how to balance them though. Last weekend after another empowering conversation with my mother in law I had signed up for a level 2 course in councilling skills. I realised that only the week before I had been looking at photography courses and a few years earlier I had become a qualified beauty therapist. I laughed to myself and shrugged it off but later that day after receiving my confirmation email for the course I realised that I wasn’t 100% clear on what my thing was because I am a multi-passionate person.
Aspiring wellness and life coach, photographer, writer, mental health advocate The truth is if that list hasn’t made it clear: I am passionate about more than one thing and being a human being I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. The best advice I received is to start with something that will benefit you. Either make you money or fund your other passions helping you fulfil your biggest dream. Think about five years from now can you still yourself doing exactly what you are doing right now or what you’re about to start? How about 10 years from now? That’s why it is critical to focus on the most beneficial passion. There isn’t anything wrong with having multiple passions those things your curious about might just be your calling.

The pain will leave once it has finished teaching you.

Everything happens for a reason something I wholeheartedly believe in. I can honestly tell you I have suffered my fair share of pain and heartbreak. I believe that those experiences have moulded me into who I am today. You can read more about them where I write on Medium here.

Laughter is good for the soul

This may seem like a super obvious thing to say but hear me out. How many times do we get stressed throughout the day? Whether that is at work or at home. It could be something minor or something major either way laughter releases negativity and attracts joy. Some studies even show that laughter boosts the immune system! I am a stressy person especially when visions do not transcend into reality. A good giggle just makes me feel so much better, Michael my partner is so good at making me laugh especially when I don’t feel like it and I am so thankful that he continues to.
What life lessons have you learned recently? I’m sure we all have these moments of realisation at some point, and it just takes a moment out of our comfort zone to notice them.
